The Struggle between Agamemnon and Achilles

Today, Agamemnon and myself came head-to-head. I needed to know why Apollo has been so angry with the allies fighting the Trojans. Tonight, at a meeting, the prophet Cachas, told everyone that Apollo was angry because he was not willing to give Chryseis back to her father. Since Chryseis’s father is Apollo’s priest, I knew that I had to convince Agamemnon to give Chryseis back, or Apollo would never stop avenging us.

Agamemnon did not like the idea of giving up Chryseis at all. I even offered to give him riches once we won the city of Troy, but he didn’t like this idea and thought I was trying to trick him. I do not know if I can fight side-by-side- with Agamemnon and I think that I should go home and let him fight his own fight.

I was upset when Nestor talked to us and told us that we were both wrong, for I do not think that I am. But he is right in saying that we cannot fight. Agamemnon is King and he is powerful. I am the greatest defense that the Greeks have and the soldiers obey me. If Agamemnon and I can get along, maybe we will stand a chance against the Trojans. For now, I am still angry with Agamemnon and do not want to fight this war anymore…
